A land of plenty with a generous terroir.
If you’re looking to visit the Alpilles, be sure to stop by the charming village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
In this magical place where the sun shines more than 300 days a year, with a light and beauty that seduced Vincent van Gogh and so many other artists, it’s a whole Provencal way of life that you find in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Just 10 minutes from the cottages, immortalized by Alphonse Daudet in his “Lettres de mon moulin” (Letters from My Windmill), Fontvieille is a haven of peace amidst olive groves, vineyards, and wooded hills.
Upon arriving in Fontvieille, you’ll discover a picturesque village with its old houses built with stone from the famous quarries that were established on site since the 15th century. It’s this same stone that was chosen to build the arenas of Arles and Nîmes as well as the castle of Tarascon from 1429 to 1434, and more recently the Palais Longchamps and the Bourse in Marseille.

Just 45 minutes from the cottages, at the foot of the Rocher des Doms, bathed by the Rhône and protected from the mistral by its old ramparts, Avignon is a must-visit on any trip to Provence. The former city of the Popes (seven popes succeeded each other there between 1309 and 1376, plus two antipopes thereafter) has preserved a beautiful bouquet of very fine monuments, but also succeeded in its present conversion into a vast open-air theater during its famous Theater Festival in July…
